Zusammenfassung Es wird eine modifizierte Form des Weissenberg-Effekts untersucht, wobei sich die viskoelastische Flüssigkeit in einem kreiszylindrischen Gefäß befindet, an dessen Boden eine Scheibe rotiert. Normalspannungsdifferenzen rufen in der Flüssigkeit eine Strömung hervor, die auf der Drehachse von unten nach oben gerichtet ist, und die freie Oberfläche wölbt sich nahe der Achse nach außen. Unter der Voraussetzung hinreichend langsamer Strömung wird eine Theorie zweiter Ordnung entwickelt. Sie führt auf elliptische Randwertaufgaben zweiter bzw. vierter Ordnung für das Geschwindigkeitsfeld der Primärströmung in Umfangsrichtung und für die Stromfunktion der Sekundärströmung in der Meridianebene. Ihnen werden äquivalente Variationsaufgaben zugeordnet und mit der Methode der Finiten Elemente numerisch gelöst. Die Gestalt der freien Oberfläche setzt sich bei geeigneter Normierung aus drei universellen Formfunktionen zusammen, die für verschiedene Füllhöhen berechnet werden. Im experimentellen Teil wird nachgewiesen, daß durch entsprechende Messungen der Auslenkung des Flüssigkeitsspiegels die unteren Grenzwerte der beiden Normalspannungskoeffizienten bestimmt werden können. Das Rheometer besitzt den Vorzug, daß die Oberflächenspannung der Flüssigkeit die Meßgröße nur unwesentlich beeinflußt.
Some kind of Weissenberg effect is considered where the viscoelastic fluid, being within a cylindrical vessel, is set in motion by a rotating disc near the tank bottom. Because of normal-stress differences within the fluid a secondary flow arises which is directed upwards near the axis of symmetry, and thus the free surface is deformed. Under the assumption of sufficiently slow flow a second-order theory is developed. It leads to second-order and fourth-order elliptic boundary value problems for the velocity field in azimuthal direction and for the stream function of the secondary flow, respectively. Equivalent variational problems are formulated and solved by the method of finite elements. When normalized appropriately, the shape of the free surface consists of three shape functions, which are independent of any material constants. It is shown by corresponding experiments, that the zero-shear-rate normal-stress coefficients can be determined by measuring the displacement of the free surface. In this rheometer, the surface tension of the fluid causes only insignificant influence on the quantity to be measured.

Results are presented for the numerical simulation of vortex-induced vibrations (VIVs) of a cylinder at low Reynolds numbers (Re). A stabilized space–time finite-element formulation is utilized to solve the incompressible flow equations in primitive variables. The cylinder, of low nondimensional mass (m*=10), is free to vibrate in, both, the transverse and in-line directions. To investigate the effect of Re and reduced natural frequency, Fn, two sets of computations are carried out. In the first set of computations the Reynolds number is fixed (=100) and the reduced velocity (U*=1/Fn) is varied. Hysteresis, in the response of the cylinder, is observed at the low- as well as high-end of the range of reduced velocity for synchronization/lock-in. In the second set of computations, the effect of Reynolds number (50Re500) is investigated for a fixed reduced velocity (U*=4.92). The effect of the Reynolds number is found to be very significant for VIVs. While the vortex-shedding mode at low Re is 2S (two single vortices shed per cycle), at Re300 and larger, the P+S mode of vortex shedding (a single vortex and one pair of counter-rotating vortices are released in each cycle of shedding) is observed. This is the first time that the P+S mode has been observed for a cylinder undergoing free vibrations. This change of vortex-shedding mode is hysteretic in nature and results in a very large increase in the amplitude of in-line oscillations. Since the flow ceases to remain two-dimensional beyond Re200, it remains to be seen whether the P+S mode of shedding can actually be observed in reality for free vibrations.  相似文献

A crystal-inelasticity-based constitutive model for martensitic reorientation and detwinning in shape-memory alloys (SMAs) has been developed from basic thermodynamics principles. The model has been implemented in a finite-element program by writing a user-material subroutine. We perform two sets of finite-element simulations to model the behavior of polycrystalline SMAs: (1) The full finite-element model where each finite element represents a collection of martensitic microstructures which originated from within an austenite single crystal, chosen from a set of crystal orientations that approximates the initial austentic crystallographic texture. The macroscopic stress-strain responses are calculated as volume averages over the entire aggregate: (2) The Taylor model (J. Inst. Metals 62 (1938) 32) where an integration point in a finite element represents a material point which consist of sets of martensitic microstructures which originated from within respective austenite single-crystals. Here the macroscopic stress-strain responses are calculated through a homogenization scheme.Experiments in tension and compression were conducted on textured polycrystalline Ti-Ni rod initially in the martensitic phase by Xie et al (Acta Mater. 46 (1998) 1989). The material parameters for the constitutive model were calibrated by fitting the tensile stress-strain response from a full finite-element calculation of a polycrystalline aggregate to the simple tension experiment. With the material parameters calibrated the predicted stress-strain curve for simple compression is in very good accord with the corresponding experiment. By comparing the simulated stress-strain response in simple tension and simple compression it is shown that the constitutive model is able to predict the observed tension-compression asymmetry exhibited by polycrystalline Ti-Ni to good accuracy. Furthermore, our calculations also show that the macroscopic stress-strain response depends strongly on the initial martensitic microstructure and crystallographic texture of the material.We also show that the Taylor model predicts the macroscopic stress-strain curves in simple tension and simple compression reasonably well. Therefore, it may be used as a relatively inexpensive computational tool for the design of components made from shape-memory materials.  相似文献

4-node, 8-node and 8(4)-node quadrilateral plane isoparametric elements are used for the solution of boundary value problems in linear isotropic Cosserat elasticity. The patch test is applied to validate the finite elements. 作者对激光表面处理的各种方法和现有技术水平进行了综述介绍,并就其在改善金属材料表面摩擦磨损性能方面的研究和应用,以及今后的发展都作了简要的分析和讨论。激光相变硬化能使处理的工件形成具有表面压应力的硬质马氏体表面,因而可以降低表面的磨损速率。在金属工件上通过激光包覆高抗磨、抗热、抗腐蚀和抗疲劳的高硬质合金甚至致密陶瓷,在严格控制工件材料对包覆合金稀释的情况下,可使底材获得高的摩擦学性能。激光合金化通过选择合金元素和基底材料能有选择地改进低成本工件的表面,使其具有优异的物理、化学和机械性能。激光上釉是通过细化铸造组织、减少偏析及形成高度过饱和固溶体等亚稳定相乃至非晶态而提高了材料的耐磨性、抗氧化性和抗腐蚀性能。激光冲击硬化是通过在材料表层内形成冲击波而引起“损伤”来改变表层的组织和性能。  相似文献

The bi-axial experimental equipment [Flores, P., Rondia, E., Habraken, A.M., 2005a. Development of an experimental equipment for the identification of constitutive laws (Special Issue). International Journal of Forming Processes] developed by Flores enables to perform Bauschinger shear tests and successive or simultaneous simple shear tests and plane strain tests. Flores investigates the material behavior with the help of classical tensile tests and the ones performed in his bi-axial machine in order to identify the yield locus and the hardening model. With tests performed on one steel grade, the methods applied to identify classical yield surfaces such as [Hill, R., 1948. A theory of the yielding and plastic flow of anisotropic materials. The stochastic finite element method presented in this Note consists in representing in a probabilistic form the response of a linear mechanical system whose material properties and loading are random. Each input random variable is expanded into a Hermite polynomial series in standard normal random variables. The response (e.g., the nodal displacement vector) is expanded onto the so-called polynomial chaos. This study develops a small-deformation theory of strain-gradient plasticity for single crystals. The theory is based on: (i) a kinematical notion of a continuous distribution of edge and screw dislocations; (ii) a system of microscopic stresses consistent with a system of microscopic force balances, one balance for each slip system; (iii) a mechanical version of the second law that includes, via the microscopic stresses, work performed during viscoplastic flow; and (iv) a constitutive theory that allows:
the free energy to depend on densities of edge and screw dislocations and hence on gradients of (plastic) slip;
the microscopic stresses to depend on slip-rate gradients.
The microscopic force balances when augmented by constitutive relations for the microscopic stresses results in a system of nonlocal flow rules in the form of second-order partial differential equations for the slips. When the free energy depends on the dislocation densities the microscopic stresses are partially energetic, and this, in turn, leads to backstresses in the flow rules; on the other hand, a dependence of these stresses on slip-rate gradients leads to a strengthening. The flow rules, being nonlocal, require microscopic boundary conditions; as an aid to numerical solutions a weak (virtual power) formulation of the flow rule is derived.  相似文献
